About NaiRie:
NaiRie, a proud Kanaka Maoli artist from the island of Oahu, Hawaii, is a multi-talented creative force. Born and raised amid the natural beauty of her homeland, she has taught herself pencil sketching and painting, while also flourishing as a video editor, singer, songwriter, and content creator. Her artistry transcends boundaries, embracing many forms of creativity. For over 20 years, she’s pursued art—not for professional accolades, but to stay sharp, always immersed in the act of creation. Rather than confining herself to a single style, she prefers to let her art flow freely, guided by the spirit of her inspiration.
Deeply connected to her Polynesian roots, NaiRie’s work draws from the cultural and natural wealth of her upbringing. With a family legacy of artisans and musicians—renowned Hawaiian quilters, kapa makers, and performers—art is in her blood. She finds solace in nature, drawing inspiration from the lush mountains, the vast ocean, and even the quiet beauty of everyday human interactions. Whether it's the melody of birdsong, the whisper of wind, or the subtleties of body language, NaiRie absorbs the world around her, allowing its details to fuel her creative soul.
Growing up, NaiRie faced negativity and criticism about her Polynesian features—her “big hair,” wide feet, and strong build. But instead of letting that deter her, she turned that adversity into artistic fuel. Her art infuses modern takes on Polynesian folklore and the celebration of Polynesian beauty especially women’s beauty. She is known for her fluid line work style with vibrant colors that emphasize movement and elegance. She takes pride in painting women with powerful, natural forms—big hair, thick thighs, strong bodies, and radiant brown skin - Along with mystical animals and spirits told about in legends. She understands that she, like all women of her heritage, is a masterpiece crafted by Ke Akua, and through her work, she hopes to help others recognize their own beauty and strength.
Today, NaiRie works primarily through acrylics on canvas, as well as occasional watercolor, pen, and pencil sketches. She also brings her vibrant personality to life through video content on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, sharing her artistic journey with the world.
